Gesue Gebrier  Roberts, a great son of Grand Gedeh County, passed away on July 11, 2020. He was a well-respected and honorable citizen in the Liberian community, and of course, in the Grand Gedeh Community. He played many pivotal roles in the establishment of the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Incorporated in 1975.

The idea of forming an organization came to mind when G. Gebrier Roberts injured in a car accident in 1975. At that time, many of his contemporaries were students, unemployed, and some without working documents. The funding to help their injured brother was non-existence; they decided to come together as a group to form an association to cater to the needs of Grand Gedeans. Therefore, the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Inc established for the social, political, and economic upliftment of Grand Gedeans, among others.

Gesus Gebrier Roberts played many organic roles in the GGAA, Inc. As a founding father of the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, he served as the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee. His Committee was instrumental in acquiring the Association’s Articles of incorporation and registration. Amongst his many pivotal roles, he served as Parliamentarian, Vice President, and subsequently as Interim President of the Association, respectively. During that time, the Association was New York and New Jersey-based.

Given these essential roles he played, he is the Father and Author of the first Constitution that gave birth to the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Inc. The G. Gebrier Roberts’ authored Constitution amended in 1985 gave rise to many chapters. Today, his vision and that of so many Grand Gedeans at that time, have blessed the Grand Gedeans’ community to own something tangible in these shores of America called the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Incorporated.

HIS VISION FOR THE PEOPLE OF GRAND GEDEH WILL LINGER ON YEARS TO COME; MAY HIS SOUL AND THOSE OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED REST IN PERPETUAL PEACE.
